This design guide has been written to encourage designers and installers to ensure that heating systems are not only installed correctly, but are also efficient and meet design and manufacturers criteria. Prepared by CORGI, with the assistance of manufacturer's and experts in the wet central heating industry sector, the Design Guide provides practical information and guidance on wet central heating systems in permanent domestic dwellings, flats, small offices and similar buildings. Using CORGI’s easy-to-read formula the guide is broken down into ten easy to navigate sections:
- Section 1 – Legislation
- Section 2 – Customer interface/planning stage
- Section 3 – Full central heating and hot water systems
- Section 4 – Boiler replacements
- Section 5 – System Upgrades
- Section 6 – System Cleansing
- Section 7 – Commissioning and Handover
- Section 8 – Innovative Ideas
- Section 9 – Definitions
- Section 10 - References
An addendum now accompanies this guide and as a First Edition it has been compiled to include additional information published in May 2006 in the Department for Communities and Local Government publication Domestic Heating Compliance Guide (DHCG).

To accompany this guide, CORGI has included an extremely useful electronic PC compatible software package. The Myson Heatloss Manager effectively allows you to calculate steady-state heat losses for rooms, using the method described in CIBSE Guide (1986) Section A5. The heat loss values can then be used to specify radiators from the Myson radiator range, on a room-by-room basis. Hevacomp Ltd designed the Myson Heatloss Manager and future updates will be available should you wish to register your copy of the CD with Myson Ltd.
